Watercolor Family Tree

Art has always been a passion of mine. Currently, I am taking a beginner watercolor painting class. For anyone located in Des Moines, Iowa  it is a  Des Moines Community Education Class located at:https://commed.dmps.k12.ia.us/wconnect/ace/Home.htm This photo is  after the 4th week of class. I have really enjoyed the class. Our teacher, Romona, has taught me shadowing & definition among other things.
Family Tree Tribute (in progress) for my Dad's side. Haven't figured out a title yet.
On the 3rd week of class, we started our 1st paintings. I am choosing to do a family tree of sorts with a path leading up to an interpretation of their old farm house. It has sidewalk paint of things we enjoy. My 2  favorite  elements that I have painted are the ace of spades & the trees. The card has wet paint on dry paper. It gives it more of an old, rustic look. I have now used watercolor pencils for the 1st time. I did not realize you had to add water to your paper before drawing. It came out really light at 1st. Then I had an ah ha moment... use water. Hence the name, watercolor pencils. If anyone has tips about how to draw 3D objects when you have limited depth perception. I would appreciate it. That is where I would like to go next with my drawing/painting abilities.

I am looking forward to seeing your artwork. Have a great day!
